An equally important component of talking with anyone is to display enthusiasm and interest. If you reflect on how people speak to you, you'll notice that you are more likely to talk with people if they are enthusiastic about what you're talking about and show interest in you and what you have to say. An enthusiastic person will always encourage you to speak more, so do the same towards others. And if you showed genuine interest in what another person has to say then you have the opportunity to go deeper into the conversation which has a high chance of turning from Small talk into an interesting conversation.
